Partying, Twitter style

Why would you party on Twitter?  Because you can win stuff. It’s obviously BYOB since you are going to be sitting in your home/office/or wherever you log on to the internet. It usually only lasts an hour. It usually is sponsored by a brand and centered on various topics like beauty, travel, wine…right up my alley.

Anyway, last month I participated in one of these parties put on by SheSpeaks.com.  It was all about hair care and sponsored by L’Oreal. Amazingly, I won one of the beauty baskets. You can see the photo below. It was chock full of stuff.  I tried the lip gloss.  It was a color I usually wouldn’t buy, but looked decent on me.

beauty, twitter, prizes, winning

I also tried the shampoo and conditioner. It’s part of the Advanced Haircare Color Vibrancy line from L’Oreal.  Basically, it is formulated for hair that has been color treated. I really liked it and will definitely be putting it into my shampoo/conditioner rotation.  The conditioner really made my hair feel silky.

You see that pink spray bottle? It’s a leave in conditioner of sorts that it supposed to protect your hair from heat damage.  I’m always a little hesitant to use leave in products in my hair.  At one point in my life, I tired using that John Frieda’s Frizz-Ease stuff and my stylist told me to stop using it. It was leaving a weird build up in my hair.  As far as I can tell the Color Vibrancy Dual Protect Spray is fine on my hair.  It doesn’t seem to have any build up and my hair certainly hasn’t been tormented by the ravages of humidity.

I tried using those Revitalift make up removing wipes and just couldn’t handle the amount of perfume in them. I don’t mind a light scent, but am not a fan of heavy smells like the one in this product. It just wasn’t for me. I’ll stick with my Olay ones.

I haven’t tried the L’Oreal Advanced Haircare Total Repair 5 Damage Erasing Balm. I’m not sure my hair needs it. The above combo of hair care products leaves my hair feeling very silky and healthy.  I’ll just keep it if I do something really stupid to my hair and need help making it pretty again.

Nor have I tried the moisturizer or hair spray. I rarely use hair spray, but it’s nice to have on hand. With regard to moisturizer, I’m very particular about what I use mostly because my skin is sensitive. I’m very loyal to the Olay stuff. It’s never given me a problem and makes my skin feel wonderful.

So, how do you find these twitter parties? On the Twitter!  If you follow various people/PR companies they will tweet out when the Twitter parties occur, which hashtags to follow and how to RSVP.  Mostly, you just have to answer the questions the host of the twitter party asks. Here’s a tip: reply to the host so your twitter followers aren’t flooded with your twitter party tweets, get confused and stop following you.

Too lazy to find the Twitter parties on your own? Fine. I found this site and she usually lists various twitter parties each week. Now that I live in a different time zone, I find that I can attend more of these.
