>A couple of days ago, I got a call from some seemingly unscrupulous company trying to get me to extend the warranty on my car, which expired almost 4 years ago. They had a lot of information about my Beetle, so I assume that VW sold it to them.
Of course, the name of the company was something generic like the Warranty Extension Company, which sets off alarm bells to anyone paying attention.
Granted, I work in a field that cold calls people, businesses actually, to sell real estate. However, we are licensed, most of us are ethical, work for reputable companies, and most of us won’t call you at 8:00 pm at night.
Am I a hypocrite for getting snarky with a person who cold calls me to sell something? If they were calling from Volkswagen, I might be more inclined to listen to their pitch, but there are too many sketchy people out there trying to get my money.
