>I conducted a little experiment this week. Everywhere I went, I drove the speed limit or no more than 5 miles above the speed limit. Mostly, I was just trying to conserve gas and save some money. I wanted to see how long I could make a tank of gas last if I paid attention to my speed. As a bonus, I realized that every single car that ended up behind me rode up my ass like I was some little old lady driving 10 miles an hour under the speed limit.

Granted, this wasn’t a scientific study. I didn’t actually write down the number of jerks who rode my bumper like it was made of gold. Nor did I note the sex, age, or race of said subjects.

It seems that most people don’t give a shit about safety much less the environment or their checking account. I tend to forget how dumb most people are until something makes me take notice.

By the way, it’s been just over two weeks since I’ve been to the gas station. I’m down to an 1/8 of a tank. I don’t think I’ll be able to make it to three weeks.

    >It’s the same in Dallas. I rarely drive fast because I’m never in a hurry to get anywhere but I’m in the vast minority.

    >Yep, that was me. I missed the part of Driver’s Ed that said the speed limit was just a guideline unless there was a cop around.
