>Last night, I turned on the TV and some reality show was on. There were these gals on a stage and a bunch of tween girls and young teenage girls in the audience. At first I thought it was America’s Top Model. Then I realized that the gals on stage were going to sing and the people in the audience, the target demographic according to the host, were going to rate them.
I hit info to see what Disney Channel concoction I’ve stumbled upon when “Pussycat Dolls” pops up on the screen. Really? The Pussycat Dolls target demographic is girls between the ages of 10 and 14?
Am I the only one who sees them with one toe over the whore line? Seriously, aren’t they supposed to be some sort of burlesque act or something? I would think their target demographic is men between the ages of 18 and 108.
Don’t get me wrong. I’m not one of those deluded individuals who think people shouldn’t have sex until they get married. I just wonder if making it socially acceptable for young girls to be fans of quasi-strippers is really a healthy thing to do for the girls’ self image.
