>I was browsing through the Target website looking for a cosmetic organizer and I found this Baby DNA Kit – DNA Storage. What the hell do you need to store DNA for? I don’t know what confuses me more, the fact that something like this is readily available or that someone actually thinks that they need it.

I remember when getting a record of your kid’s fingerprints was a big deal. Back in first or second grade, the school made us all go to the gym and get finger printed and photographed by the police. I guess that’s not enough anymore.

There is also an option to get a DNA Profile. Why would you want that? I don’t want a chart of my genetic blueprint. Nor do I care to see a report that “maps the similarities of your DNA to population groups around the world”. What use is that to me? It might be novel for a little while, but I’m not going to spend $100 for it. I’d rather have a good pair of shoes or a new outfit.

    >The Baby DNA Kit! For the family who watches way too many shows featuring the ridiculously overglamorized forensic science format.

    >The Nazis made German children create draw family trees so that they could map out similarities to “population groups around the world.”
