Logically, nothing, but still – think of just about any name and you’re likely to get an image of someone – if not in look, than at least in character.
Nick is one of those that people often associate with a “hood” of some sort. Interesting that if you call them Nicholas you probably get a different picture.
How about Steve (probably the “All American”)? Or, for girls, how about “Cindy” (pretty probably, but often lacking common sense)? Bertha?
Yeah, there’s nothing scientific to it, but I can’t help but notice that you often can stereotype names. Personally, I think it’s a byproduct of what kinds of families are often attracted to those names, but one wonders sometimes.
