>I was talking with my mom this weekend and realized that my sister and I have been drinking coffee since we were in elementary school. Back then, there were no Starbucks, so we were drinking home brewed old fashioned java. We didn’t drink it every day. It was only on the weekends and usually loaded up with milk and sugar.
It’s funny because my mom seems a little embarrased by it. Personally, I’d rather kids drink coffee and not sodas. At least I know what is in coffee, be it home brewed or bought at Peets. Have you seen the list of chemicals in a can of soda?
Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy the occasional Diet Coke with Lime, but I can keep a 12 pack of it in my fridge for about 2 months before it’s all gone.
>My 3 kids, ages 11,6 and 3, all like coffee. My daughter drinks it the way I do, with flavored coffeemate and the boys (because they are younger)get a very small amount of coffee with lots of milk and a touch of coffeemate. I admit, I thought they would try it and hate it, but instead they want more. I don’t think it’s bad since they only have it occasionally and they think it’s a treat.
>Glad to know I’m not the only one who had coffee as a kid. 🙂
>And I have to admit, I don’t exactly brag about it to the other mothers…I understand how your mom feels.
