>This afternoon I was trying to figure out why the smoke suddenly got thick by searching on the local TV channel websites when I found this story about a chimpanzee escaping from an animal sanctuary in San Bernardino county.

At first, I thought it was bizarre that someone would try to raise a chimpanzee like a child, but then I got to this part of the story:

Over the Davises’ protests, Moe was taken to an animal sanctuary in Kern County where the couple visited him regularly. But in 2005, when they took a cake to celebrate Moe’s birthday with him, the couple was viciously attacked by two other chimpanzees who had escaped their cages.

The chimps nearly killed St. James Davis, chewing off his nose, testicles and foot and biting off chunks of his buttocks and legs, before the sanctuary owner shot the animals to death.

Personally, I wouldn’t go anywhere near chimps after one had bitten off my nose, foot and chunks of my buttocks and legs.

>So the dude who melted the freeway ramp in Oakland walked for a mile and a half then hailed a cab to take him to the hospital? Does that constitute fleeing the scene of an accident? What I also don’t get is that a dude from the nearby East Bay MUD sewage treatment plant saw the driver walking along the connector ramp and didn’t call 911 or drive him to the hospital. Granted it was 4:00 am in West Oakland, which can be akin to Thunderdome as opposed to a city in Northern California at that hour.

This incident is just more fuel for my “SLOW THE HELL DOWN” fire. And the truck driver’s employer better pay for the damage. And the goddamn oil companies better not use this as an excuse to raise gas prices, YET AGAIN!
