>While surfing through the humdrum midday television options during my recent holiday break, I stumbled across Cash Cab again. I have a love/hate relationship with this show. On the one hand, I love all things trivia. Random useless information is my milieu. On the other hand, how can some people be so dumb? People who can’t answer what I think are basic knowledge questions annoy me. I wonder how many “fares” get into the Cash Cab before they get more than a few blocks.
If by some chance I do get to New York City before this game show is canceled, I would love the chance to try out my trivia skills. Of course, I’ll probably get three blocks and choke on a question about the Beatles or the number of feet in a mile.
Now that I think about it, I have a pretty complicated relationship with most game shows. I am intrigued by the challenges to my intellect they sometimes present and yet, I am alternately disgusted by people who seemingly can’t answer the simplest of questions. I mean if you couldn’t get past the first few questions on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, something is seriously wrong with you. Hello reference from 1999.
