Way too much money goes into and is made by this show. The producers have to control the outcome. Not that most of the winners of the show ever make a huge splash after it’s over, but they do pretty well comparatively.
Of course, everything has to be taken with a grain of salt, too. With regard to the contracts being unfair, it depends on the point of view. Most of the people who sign them are usually naive and don’t have legal representation protecting them. Then again, who among us doesn’t sign or agree to a “terms of service”without fully reading them?
