When I was a kid, LEGOs were these cool plastic bricks that I made into buildings…ok pretty much just houses. I didn’t really have that much imagination when it came to thinking of other things to build. Enter my husband and LEGO Star Wars.
Not only is he creating an entire town, more on that in another post, but he also built an R2-D2. Do you see this thing? It’s awesome! Sadly, it doesn’t move around or beep at you, but it’s really cool to look at…I mean, who doesn’t love R2?
Now, I find out that the LEGO Star Wars universe is getting another new edition: the Cantina Band set is coming out this year. How awesome is that? These are the droids you’re looking for! Sorry. I couldn’t resist.
OK, the Imperial Star Destroyer and the AT-AT look pretty cool too, but I’ve always been a fan of the setting sets or building sets, maybe because I’m old school.
One of the things Paul has yet to get is the LEGO Death Star. From what I can tell, it’s quite an investment in time and effort. Also, I’m not sure where we’d put it as it looks too big to fit into his LEGO bookshelf…which fills a wall in our apartment.
It might not look like it, but the LEGO R2-D2 fits nicely in our LEGO bookshelf. The bookshelf is technically from IKEA, but the size of the cubes is a perfect fit for all of Paul’s LEGO buildings, which he designed using the LEGO Digital Designer, more on that in another post.
LEGO Star Wars sets in the future?
I’m curious as to what LEGO Star Wars sets might be planned for the future. I know there was a LEGO Technic C-3PO, but that thing looked a little frightening to me. I’d like to see a C-3PO that was more like the R2-D2. Wait! How about a LEGO Wookie? Or would it just end up looking more like a LEGO Ewok?
It should be noted that I’m relatively new to the whole LEGO Star Wars thing, so if I seem like I don’t know what’s going on, I might not, but feel free to share your knowledge with me!
Oh, and buy a LEGO set (Star Wars or otherwise) at The World’s Biggest LEGO Shop!
