Sacramento, I’m pleading with you. Stop talking about the Kings already! You’re like that friend who just got dumped and won’t shut up about how they are going to win back their ex.
You know that friend who tells you what you need to hear instead of what you want? That’s me. It’s painful, but you need to hear this…you’re acting like a sad sack. No pun intended…well, maybe a little, but for the love of all that’s holy, you are boring me to tears with this insanity. You missed the signs of a break up for the past five years and now you are being pathetic. Have a little self-respect, please!
Oh and by the way, I’m not buying into this new arena crap. Have you been to Candlestick Park? That place is about to fall into the freaking San Francisco Bay and yet the 49ers don’t seem to have a problem with the NFL’s blackout rules. True fans support their teams no matter how crappy they play or the age of their arena.
My Twitter feed is torture. I am about to unfollow half of the people on my list because all they ever post are updates about the Mayor’s last minute attempts to keep the Kings around or some random billionaire who decided to get his name in the paper by jumping on the old bandwagon and saying that he’ll keep the NBA in Sacramento. At least I think that’s what he said, I was bored with it by the third tweet.
And news organizations, you are just feeding the stupid frenzy. There is other shit going on in the world, I swear. Japan is probably still all radiated and I’m fairly certain peace has not been achieved in the Middle East.
Sure put a few things out there to keep people in the loop, but really do I need to have 15 kazillion posts about the minutiae of the Maloofs? NO!
I wouldn’t be surprised if someone somewhere right this instant isn’t busting out an acoustic guitar and writing a song about keeping the Kings around. Shit. Did I just give you an idea? Don’t do it! NO!
My biggest problem is that the Maloofs keep dragging out this whole drama like some codependent high school romance gone awry. Just move already! I’m tired of this will they, won’t they stuff. I think I heard on the news this morning that it could be 4 months before a final decision is made. If I am tortured by this all summer there is going to be hell to pay.
I’m just praying that the attention span of the people of Sacramento is as short as the rest of the country and by this time next week a new shiny object will be distracting us all with its novelty and drama.
