>My sister is perplexed by Facebook. She cannot fathom why anyone would care that she went to the grocery store or was hoping someone could pick something up at the mall for her.
I tried to explain to her that there are different types of users. There are those who think that people want to know the excruciating minutiae of their day. Mostly, these are “soccer moms”. You know what I’m talking about. “I dropped off Chloe at ballet practice and am running to pick up Jordan at taekwondo. Boy do I need a Frappuccino!”
Then there are those who only play games. You’ve scrolled through the Farmville, Mafia Wars, Bejeweled and the other cutesy/kill-em-all game posts. They also post random pictures of their kids and/or vacations.
Then there are the folks like me who use it as a creative writing exercise. I will post random movie quotes, song lyrics or silly sentences that pop into my head.
How can I forget the folks who use Facebook as a means of therapy? They will post about their latest break up, the newest insanity presented by their work/kids/life, or how their family is making them nuts.
Granted, most of us are a blend of all of these folks. Have I forgotten anyone?
>I am on Facebook mostly to keep in touch with people. I want people to be able to find me. I don't post much on there.
>I think most people just lurk like you and want to reconnect with old friends/distant family. They pop in and say Happy Birthday or congratulations whenever someone posts something of substance, but don't otherwise share much with their "friends" in general.
Pretty much however you are in real life is easily reflected in your Facebook habits.
