>What is a girly girl?  I used to think this meant a gal who was high maintenance.  The image of some hoochie mama (for lack of a better phrase) comes to mind.  A gal who makes people jump through hoops to get her way.  She constantly wears fake hot pink nails and a white spandex skirt while being over tanned and under dressed. She refuses to roll with the punches and complains about it all the time.

The more I think about it, being a girly girl just means I don’t like icky stuff like creepy crawlies and camping.  I can hang with the best of them when the occasion calls for it.

Personally, I never thought of myself as a girly girl until my sister said something about it to her son.  He was showing me a picture of some slimy sea creature when I cringed and made a disgusted face. “Your aunt is a real girly girl, ” she explained when he looked concerned at the face I made.

I know some manly men who are high maintenance.  They might like hunting and fishing, but they can be particular about how their garages are kept.  Don’t take that tool off its shelf if you don’t intend to return it exactly as you found it or you will never hear the end of it.

So how am I a girly girl?  I like things to be clean and pretty.  I want my house to be comfortable and clutter free…just don’t look in my closets. I avoid discomfort when possible and gravitate towards calm.  I do all this for myself and don’t expect anyone to take care of me.

I’ll put up with creepy crawlies, but not camping.  My brain cannot fathom why anyone would eschew indoor plumbing and insulation for a tent and a hole in the woods.

    >Great link! Totally disagree with their definition. Pretty sure tomboys can be hygienic too. Wear pastels, stop swearing…please!

Bright red is my favorite color and cussing is cathartic. Oh yeah and wikihow can kiss my ass! 🙂
