>That Might be True for Cubs Fans

>On various media outlets, I keep hearing San Francisco Giants fans saying, “This is a once in a lifetime opportunity” when they are talking about the Giants being in the World Series.  I beg to differ.

In my lifetime alone, the Giants have been to the World Series three times.  If you want to include the Oakland A’s into the World Series runs for Bay Area teams, my Dad tells me that there have been about 10 of those once in a lifetime opportunities in his life.

I’m not trying to burst anyone’s bubble. Personally, I still can’t believe the Giants are in the World Series and are winning.  It’s great!

Going to the World Series is a huge accomplishment and I don’t want to take away from the hard work of the team, but saying it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity might be a bit of hyperbole in this case. Sure there are some teams who haven’t been to the World Series ever…or in the last 50+ years, but the Bay Area has been blessed with some great teams.  Let’s try to keep that history in mind.
