If you were stuck in the middle of nowhere, miles from civilization, you didn’t have many options to prevent pregnancy. It wasn’t like you could run down to the general store and pick up some condoms. The Pill didn’t exist until 50 years ago. “Stay the hell off me” was the only truly effective means.
While some things like IUDs and Yaz skeeve me out, I’m glad someone out there has been working on improving birth control methods. It’s better than having to be a nun or hermit just to prevent getting knocked up.
