>Last night I went to the home opener of the Sacramento Mountain Lions. It felt like I was transported back to the many football games I attended in high school, except none of my friends were there to laugh with me.
The best part of the game was the people watching. Much like the Michelob Invitational in Happy Gilmore, there was, “Quite a large and economically diverse crowd” at the stadium. Many NFL shirts were on display, mostly it was whatever team Duante Culpepper was on, the Raiders and a smattering of the 49ers.
Whoever got Jeff Keith to sing the National Anthem deserves a bonus. Seriously, that was genius. The pyrotechnics were also top notch during the song. The only thing that would have made it better was if they had played Little Suzi or Edison’s Medicine right after he was done singing.
The highlight of the night came when the Mountain Lions’ mascot was wandering through the stands and someone yelled out, “Bobcat!”
There was just so much goodness at this event and I haven’t even talked about the game itself. Did I mention that they played “Catch Me I’m Falling” by Pretty Poison? Yeah, you don’t even know what song that is nor what movie it was in because I was the only one who liked either of them back in junior high.
