I’ve given up my dream of owning a flying car, but is anyone working on one of those Mr. Fusion things? I’d like to own a personal nuclear reactor that runs on garbage to fuel my car. Sure there’s probably some danger of contamination leaks, but I’m willing to risk it if I don’t have to go to the gas station ever again.

And the problem with fusion isn’t contamination leaks. Fusion is really a low-level radioactive process.
It’s the ten-mile wide crater that is left when the fusion drive fails that’s the true problem.
Better to hope for the flying cars.
