Each year, my Christmas spirit wanes just a little bit. I’m not really sure why. This year, I just seem too busy to enjoy any of those things I love about Christmas. I’ve barely heard any Christmas songs. I’m just not in the mood.

But that’s probably what would fill me with Christmas cheer… a little Nat King Cole singing the Christmas Song. That has to be one of my favorite Christmas albums. There’s just something about his voice that soothes me and makes me happy.

Of course, I also enjoy Holly Jolly Christmas by Burl Ives. Can you believe that man was also in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof? Talk about a versatile actor. He can play a snowman and a mid-century southern plantation owner.

Then it’s a tie between Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree and Jingle Bell Rock. Both are just fun songs to listen to when you are feeling a little overwhelmed by the holidays.

There’s also a special place in my heart for Chuck Berry’s Run Run Rudolph, which for some reason comes up as Run Rudolph Run in my iTunes.

But you really haven’t lived until you’ve heard Billy Idol sing God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen. Seriously. Look it up. Quality.
