The latest buzz in the online dating world is that Match.com is going to introduce singles events offline, in real life. Here’s the problem with that…singles events still have a stigma to them. People already feel enough pressure to land a mate, putting them into a singles event just adds to it.
Plus, most people meet their boyfriend/girlfriend in a setting that has nothing to do with dating. It’s usually work, school, a hobby, or…well, I honestly don’t know how to meet men other than online, so if you have any ideas let me know.
Regardless, while I like the idea of attending events, I kind of wish Match had introduced something more social media like. Being able to add updates and statuses like on Twitter and Facebook could be interesting. I mean then you would know the person is active and not a freaking robot or scam artist. Well, not a robot anyway.
Match also mentioned that games will be introduced. That piques my interest a little more. From what I could tell, it sort of sounded like you have to ask someone to play with you or maybe Match just assigns someone to play with you. It’s enough to make me want to stick around on the site and see what it’s all about. I wonder if it will be open to everyone or just paying customers.
